Description

Region: AOC Châteauneuf‑du‑Pape, a classic AOP appellation in the Southern Rhône, with limestone-rich soils covered in galets roulés, sand and clay.
Character:
Xavier Vignon's interpretation of Châteauneuf‑du‑Pape captures the character of its classic terroir: sun-warmed galets roulés reflected in a dense, richly spiced and velvety red wine. Low yields and the hot climate give the blend depth, concentration and a structure that benefits from ageing, while preserving refined elegance and mineral purity.
Aromas:
An intense bouquet of deep red and black fruit: cherries, blackcurrants and raspberries, accompanied by pepper, garrigue herbs such as rosemary and thyme, wild sage and mint. Undertones of dark chocolate and liquorice, with a hint of smoky tobacco, add depth.
Palate:
Full-bodied, warm and concentrated, with an elegant structure. The tannins are silky and well integrated, while acidity keeps the wine fresh. Berry flavours return on the palate with spicy and floral nuances, leading to a long, dry finish with an intriguing earthy, clay-like note.
Decant for at least 45–60 minutes before serving to allow the wine to open fully.
Ageing potential:
Enjoyable now, with further development over the next 7–12 years as the tannins soften, nuances become more defined and complexity deepens.
